Strijensas is a picturesque little town in the Hoeksche Waard, which is known for its historic lock, bridge and beacon. Moerdijk is a small village within the province of Brabant, on the other side of the Hollandsch Diep strait. Up until 1820, a ferry service existed between these villages as well. At the time, it was a key connection between islands that were part of South Holland and North Brabant. Captain Jan Blokland has operated this ferry connection with the ‘Lucretia’, a large punt from 1973 measuring nearly 15 metres, since 2016. Have a seat on board and enjoy the wonderful trip across the Hollandsch Diep strait. Period of operation 1 May up until 27 September 2020. Sailing days May, June and September on Saturdays and Sundays. Op Ascension Day 21 May, Friday 22 May and Whit Monday 1 June. In July and August from Wednesday through Sunday. A total of 12 passengers are permitted on board, and there is room for a maximum of 12 bicycles. The crossing takes approximately 20 minutes. The connection will take you to the following cycling network points: no. 29 (Strijen), and 27 and 37 in the Hoeksche Waard. When coming from Moerdijk, this is network point no. 39. 8 Strijensas - Moerdijk
